Ecumenism is a movement that seeks to achieve unity among all religions through cooperation and the fostering of greater mutual understanding. Mosts humanists, both religious and secular, are advocates of ecumenism, as the ecumenical process is inherently one that dispels fanaticism and that, at its best, attempts to arrive at the truth through a careful weighing of contending viewpoints. This is, of course, one of the methods of arriving at the truth advocated by Humanism as well. |
